We adopted our son in April of 2006 from Kazakhstan. This is a record of the process and life with the beautiful little monkey.

dear ms woods
this is melanie, your ta, and i am writing on behalf of myself and peter, your other ta. i hope that all is going well in kazakhstan and that you and your son are having a great time together. unfortunately, there have been some serious problems with the subsitute teacher and we needed to ask for your help and this was the only way we could think to reach you. She doesnt seem to know what her job is as a sub and instead is having me and peter teach the class, take role, give citizenship grades, punish the students, and walk around patrolling to make sure that nobody says a word the entire period. she also seems to be scheming to find ways to get the students in trouble and she keeps asking me how i think she should punish them if they talk. in addition, she gets upset if i give full credit on assignments if the students dont get all answers correct, even if they try hard. she insists on half credit.she also has taken to yelling at everybody. basically her behavior is extremely erratic and peter and i are worried that she does not understand what our role as TAs is and what her role is in your absence. Peter is beginning to take home the teachers manual and study it in order to teach the lesson. We both just feel that this is not how the situation should be and we were hoping that you could help us somehow. we thought that maybe one of the Fellows graduate students could maybe come and help in our class. i think anything would really help. sorry i posted this on your physics blog, i just couldnt find another way to reach you.yet you should probably delete this comment after you read it so that future posters (and possibly the sub herself) dont read this. but anyways i hope that kaz is wonderful and we both wish you the best of luck. if you need to reach me, my email is sbtennisgirl@hotmail.com and i can forward anything to peter also. thank you so much for your help. spaciba e da svidanya!
