Great Couple of Days

Life has been pretty good in Almaty. After Maksim's adjustment to his temporary new apartment, things have been pretty fun. We have walked around alot. We have eaten alot. We have gone to the play area at Silk Way City. We have completed our medical appointment for the Embassy Interview - our last step before flying out of here. This is a pic in the waiting room. What a happy boy! He LOVED the playpen. Should we invest in one?? LOL
We have even visited the mountains, twice! Today, there was a guy there with an eagle that he would let people take pictures with (for a small fee). The bird was magnificent and maybe a little hungry! Maksim was napping so we took picture with the bird without him at first. Once he woke up, we snapped a few next to the bird.

We have met some really nice people in the last few days and feel happy that people (other than whom we have paid!!) are friendly.

Of course, we really miss home and wish we knew when we will be able to fly out of here. We are waiting for Maksim's exit visa. We hope that we get it by the end of the week or our trip will go into it's 9th week. Yes, you heard us, 9 weeks!!!

Thank you to Nana, Papa Jon, and Auntie Elizabeth for getting the house toddler proofed. We thought that we had already done this - but you know - we didn't know what a toddler was really like.

Cross your fingers for us. Pray for us. We long to be home.

Period 4 physics asked: What IS the highest frequency? What is the lowest frequency?

Period 5 asked: Why do the vibrations sound so cool? How can it be that energy is tranferred from one pendulum from another without touching?

Period 3 asked: How does an opera singer's voice break glass? Why is the sky blue?

Much love, Stephanie and Julian

PS -- Melissa, everything is fine at school. Enjoy the rest of your adventure in Kaz. We were just a hop, skip and a jump away from you over the break, in Hungary and Germany. I thought about you guys an extra lot while I was there.

PPS -- Maks, the one thing your adorable Mom won't tell you is that CHEMISTRY RULES!
